James Frith Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Bury North
Environment

I am passionate about our protecting our environment and tackling the threat of climate change.
I’m backing Labour’s call for an environment and climate emergency. I am working hard to protect our green belt and enhance our green spaces. I’ve opposed attempts by the government to override local democracy and allow fracking in our town. I’m working with local schools and Bury Council to make our town plastic free. I’m fighting to improve local public transport links and make our roads safer for cyclists to reduce reliance on cars. I’m working locally and nationally to make our air cleaner. I’ve joined with MPs from across Parliament to lobby the Prime Minister to introduce a net zero emissions target for 2050 and I am supporting the efforts of the Youth Now for Climate Change and Renewable Energy campaign to ensure government support and funding for renewable energies.
I’m also proud to support Labour’s plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, which includes creating a new Clean Air Act, producing at least 60% of the UK’s electricity and heat from clean, renewable and low carbon sources by 2030, investing in public transport, installing solar panels on 2 million homes and creating over 400,000 good, sustainable jobs. I want to do even more, developing a green manifesto for Bury – with your help.
In the coming months I’ll be bringing together stakeholders from across Bury to discuss ideas for a local manifesto to tackle climate change and protect our environment. Sign up to receive my e-newsletter below and be the first to hear the details.
