Bury North MP James Frith met with local farmers this week, as part of his programme of visits to local businesses and community groups to discuss local and national issues.

At a roundtable with local farmers and representatives of the National Farmers Union hosted by George Bretherton of Gorsey Brow Farm in Bury, farmers raised their concerns about rural crime and the impact of Brexit on farming and agriculture in Bury and beyond.

James said:

“It was a real pleasure to discuss these issues with local farmers, an important part of community life and the economy in Bury. Their concerns about Brexit are important and I will be sure to reflect them in our debates in Parliament. I am also concerned about rural crime and I will be writing to GM Mayor Andy Burnham to ask that he consider creating a focal point in GMP to report rural crime issues and ensure they are properly investigated.”
