Bury North MP James Frith has tabled a motion in Parliament to protect small businesses following the collapse of Carillion.

The motion – which has received cross-party support from more than 40 MPs – calls on the Government to honour outstanding payments to small businesses on public contracts, protect local economies by redistributing Carillion contracts to small businesses, enforce 30-day payment regulations and create a deposit protection scheme for construction industry retention fees.
