Bury North MP James Frith has been elected to chair the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hospices and Palliative Care.

The group leads work in Parliament on hospice and end of life care issues, working cross-party for constructive resolutions to the problems facing this area of health and social care. James’s election as its new chair came as he took a delegation of GM hospice leaders to meet with the Minister for hospices, Caroline Dinenage, to discuss his report on the future of hospice care in Greater Manchester, commissioned by GM Mayor Andy Burnham, and its wider implementation across England.

James said:

“I’m honoured to be elected to chair the APPG for hospices and end of life care for the coming year and look forward to working with MPs from across all parties and the hospice, NHS and social care sectors to discuss how we can create a sustainable, secure future for our hospices, better integrated into local health and social care services across the country.”
